That looks different from last year, did they get a new carriage this time?
42 weeks ago The San Jacinto Descendants
It's the same carriage, but we forgot the San Jacinto Liberty Flags that we put on the carriage last year.

SRT your qualifying ancestor has to be a Direct Family ancestor. Great grandfather or mother and it can come through either one switching through generations to you. Descendants has to be from a grandfather that fought in the battle of San Jacinto or in the Rear Guard at "Harrisburg", only. SRT has many chapters all over Texas the SJD does not have chapters but we have members from all over the country and beyond, main concentration and activities are centered in the Houston area. As a note, there is a descendant of general Houston here, actually several great grandchildren.

    Are you already SRT?

I do. Here we are at the Texas Ranger Cross ceremony at the Texas State Cemetery coming up on 5 years ago.

If you are a true descendant of the Batlle of San Jacinto then you have to be a descendant of an Early Texas Settler, in Texas, prior to Feb. 19th, 1846. This is the official date Texas became the 28th State.

Haven’t seen this site before and glad to come across it. Proud to be a son of a true Texas hero!

    Where are you located

The ranger group to join, there are two. Former Texas Rangers Assoc in Fredericksburg, Tx. The one in Waco is more political and not supportive of the real Rangers.

That would be awesome, thank you

Seth T. Spurgin okay best bet is you can join the SJD just fine, go to San Jacinto Descendants.org and there should be an application you can fill out. We only have one meeting a year, here in the Houston area. Coming up this year, April 14th, but many of us gather at the Monument on the 21st. Our SRT group brings our cannon out and fired a salute then, last year, unknown to the Park, we included some ashes of Sam Houston IV in our shot.

I was a SRT while in high school but haven’t followed up with it unfortunately. Was looking at joining the Texas Ranger registry as well (for descendants)

I can get you in touch with the closest SRT chapter to you and show you how to apply to the SJDescendants also.

    How do I apply/join?
Good for you, have you joined an SRT chapter yet? I am a Descendant of a grandfather, capt of a Ranging company that brought the largest single family group that participated in the San Jacinto battle.

My 4th great grandfather... I filled out the information on the website a while ago and they never added my name to the list of descendants. Also never added this photo.

I use my 3rd Great Grandfather so don't be turned away by worrying about using a 4th grandfather
52 weeks ago The San Jacinto Descendants
What part of Texas are you in?
52 weeks ago The San Jacinto Descendants
Then fill out the Application and mail it in with the fee. Do not use the online App to do it all, is the app to print out then hand fill it out and mail. We are changing the website to reflect this.

Have you joined the organization? I don't show you as a member.

Are you able to join? Are you a direct descendant from a Great Grandfather that participated in the battle of San Jacinto?
52 weeks ago The San Jacinto Descendants
    And I am 72.
Yes John Files Tom is my 4th great grandfather.

    No I have not joined.
    I'm 23.

Am I allowed to contribute to the website with out joining? I'd rather use the fee money for further research... I am interested in joining in the future, but I have more research to do at the moment.
